Mercedes-Benz Electric Blue SLS AMG Coupé Electric Hypercar

Mercedes-Benz revealed their pure-electric version of the gullwinged SLS AMG Coupé supercar a bit earlier than expected, allowing us to get a peek at everything the electrified model has to offer. The SLS AMG Coupé uses the “Electric Drive” designation which will be used on all battery-powered electric passenger cars in the future from Mercedes-Benz, AMG and Smart. Like Porsche’s weaponized 918 hybrid, the model utilizes four electric motors that are positioned close to the wheels and produce a combined output of 740Hp and maximum toque of 1,000Nm, making it the most powerful production AMG model of all time. It’s also said to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in a ludicrous 2.9 seconds with top speed at 155mph, all electronically governed. The limited SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive will begin to be delivered in July 2013 with prices starting at about $536,200 (€416,500), more than twice the cost of the petrol engine-powered SLS AMG GT (€204,680). Sustainable and omnipotent, a combo we can live with.
