McLaren “Can-Am GT” MP4-12C Track Car

McLaren “Can-Am GT” MP4-12C Track Car suicide doors

McLaren unveiled a Can-Am concept for a track-only version of its superb MP4-12C supercar. On the eve of the Austin Grand Prix, McLaren announced they will be gearing that vehicle into production — even if they only plan on making 30 of them. Developed by the British automaker’s GT racing division, the Can-Am GT gets a power boost from 616 HPs on the standard MP4-12C to 630 HPs, all wrapped in a carbon fiber body kit (front spoiler, side skirts, rear wing, etc) that increases downforce by significant 30 percent. Since it’s a track-only racer, all interior appointments have been stripped in favor of a rollcage, six-point harnesses and a race spec steering wheel stripped from the McLaren’s GT3 racer. If you want to get your hands on one of the rare Can-Am GT MP4-12C track cars, you’ll have to donate about $600,000 (£375,000) to McLaren.
